Boston Weekend Getaway

What do you get when two stylish bloggers go to Boston, bring half of their wardrobe with them for only one night in the city, have photo shoots for every outfit, and take pictures at every street corner? Lots of shopping, laughing, and no sleep!

Saturday, my cousin, aunt, mom, and I went to Boston for the weekend. My cousin, Maddie, has her own blog about artistic musings, so both of us thought of the trip as the perfect opportunity for blogging about! It was so much fun having a weekend for just us girls, and of course, it included lots of shopping! We stayed at the Raddison hotel which is located not far from Chinatown. Saturday night we took the T to Cambridge and went to the Garment District, which is a thrift store we heard about. Afterwards, we went back and grabbed a 9 o'clock dinner at McCormick and Schimck's, a restaurant down the street from the hotel. We were extremely tired by the time we got back to our room, but Maddie and I still had enough energy to have a photo shoot with the clothes we got.

The next morning, we went for a quick swim, packed up, and checked out of the hotel to go prancing around the city for the rest of the day. We went to Park Street to grab some Starbucks and go shopping. By the time we were out of H&M, it was time to eat a late lunch and go home.

On our way there.

It was rainy when we checked in, so our view of the city was a little covered in fog.

My mom and I.

Maddie found these glasses at the Garment District and wore them to dinner.

The service at the restaurant was a little slow, but it picked up once we got our food.
I got a crispy buffalo chicken sandwich. I liked the contrast between the spicy chicken and tangy bleu cheese.

Alice in Wonderland ads were all over the city.

City lights from the balcony.

The next morning, the weather cleared up and it was much sunnier.

We just had to go to the pool before we left!

We went to get some Starbucks to re-energize because we didn't get any sleep Saturday night.
Maddie couldn't stop drinking water!

My mom and aunt.

We look so tired!

Wrong city, dude!

The blue-eyed beauties!

We thought this window display was so pretty!

I wore my Marc Jacobs shirt I got for $28.

The roasted peanuts smelled like...cotton candy?!

I went to H&M for the first time! We don't have one in NH that I know of, so I was excited to finally shop there...it's my new favorite store!

Coming Soon...
a post about the Garment District!

  2. Jenny, I am so glad you had fun in Boston this weekend! Hahaha, and that you found out about the Garment District--I didn't know about it until my freshman year at Emerson, but I love it. What's not to love about $1/pound for awesome vintage clothes! Anyway, you were on Winter Street near the corner mall and downtown crossing--I work on Winter Street and it's about seven minutes from Emerson! :) The photos are awesome and I absolutely loved your outfit from the first day--very Bostonian and city-chic.

  3. Also, H&M is my life now that I live so close to one. It is my favorite store as well, and it's so easily addicting. I just bought a chiffon dress there for $10, not on sale. :O

Btw, I wore my black and gold dress from H&M to town meeting day today and got 3 compliments on it! Pretty good for a room full of small town hicks! Miss you!
