There weren't many impressive red-carpet moments at the Grammys this year because most celebs either donned black in mourning of Whitney or simply seemed to tone down their statements. What was with Lady Gaga and her confusing gothic mess of fabric? Rihanna was still able to rock her style in the atmosphere of the evening and Gwyneth Paltrow looked subdued with a little edge.
While the fashion wasn't too thrilling, there were still some exciting moments throughout the night. I've complied my favorite moments of the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Best Overall Look: Rihanna
Rihanna rarely makes style mistakes because she has the ability to look cool in almost anything. This look was much different from most of her fashion choices, however. In Gorgio Armani, she pulled off a simple black dress by revealing just enough skin and making more of a statement with minimalism. I'm also loving her hair! Her face shape and eyes allow her to take a lot of risks with hairstyles and this is one of my favorites. It's simpler than some of her past styles, but she still keeps it edgy with dark roots, texture, and volume.
Cutest Couple: Lily Aldridge & Caleb Followill
I am so obsessed with Lily and Caleb! They are the perfect model-rockstar duo! Lily looked beautiful showing off her baby bump in a floral gown. That baby is either going to be another gorgeous Victoria's Secret supermodel or the next biggest rockstar!
Best Grammy Moment: Adele Winning 6 Awards
...and she deserves every single one! Adele has built an incredible career for herself and her success comes from her undeniable talent. Her voice is refreshing, both vocally and lyrically. With the debut of her album 21, she instantly became everyone's favorite artist...even people who don't typically listen to her kind of music couldn't deny that she's the songbird of the decade!
Also, I couldn't be happier for her beautiful Vogue cover!
Classiest Man: Bruno Mars
While Chris Brown was getting hype from lunatic girls on twitter and LL Cool J was calling Paul McCartney his "homie," Bruno Mars was a class-act in a dapper suit...with a weak-in-the-knees-beautiful smile! For his performance of "Runaway," he wore a gold jacket and took off his ultra-cool shades so we could see his enchanting brown eyes. Yeah, you could say that I have a bit of a crush on him...but who doesn't love a classy man who serenades, "her eyes make the stars look like they're not shining"?
Best Outfit Change: Taylor Swift
This sweetheart knows how to put on a show without losing who she is. Some artists (cough Niki Minaj!) get too caught up in the entertainment side of the performance that they forget their voices still have to sound good. On the red carpet, Taylor wore an ethereal gown by Zuhair Murad then transformed into country cutie in a 40s style floral dress. Seeing both sides of her--one part fashionable celebrity, one part cheerful country singer--shows that she hasn't lost herself even though she manages to snag several music awards every year.
