Inspired by Roman Holiday

Last weekend I was watching another one of my favorites of Audrey Hepburn, Roman Holiday, and I really liked her simple outfit she wears while site seeing. She looked so carefree but put together in a crisp white button-down and her hair pulled back. I adapted her look with a jean skirt and floral print scarf, but I added leggings just because it was a bit chilly. The fun thing about using black and white movies for inspiration, is that you can imagine the clothes any color you want. I always thought of her long skirt as being a light blue, but then after I did some picture searching online, I found out she really wore a vibrant red one.

Sorry the picture isn't the best quality!

The Shoe Everyone's Talking About

Whatever fashion magazines, trend reviews, and blogs you read this fall, they all have good things to say about Marc Jacob's dazzling Luis Vuitton Fall 2009 runway. Just about all of the trends for the season (thigh-high boots, decked out necklaces, and bright hues, to name a few) were featured in his collection, but the most stunning piece of all? The towering platform pumps that have become the major "it" shoe of fall. They're made with lace, satin, velvet ribbon, and have a unique hourglass heel. They also come in pink, gold brocade, or black suede. For $1,200, it's not likely I'll be buying them this fall, but who's to say I won't see them on sale in a few months at Gilt Groupe or Rue-La-La?

Highlights of Fahion's Night Out

Sadly, I couldn't make it to NYC for the amazing night of shopping last night, so I've been enjoying it from afar. Among all the stars, sales, signings, designers, and models, stores were crowded, dj's mixed music, drinks were served, and everyone went home with a story to tell. I wish I could've been there, but I'm hoping it'll become an annual event, in which case, I'll start planning now!

Girls in Denim

This afternoon has been so sunny and beautiful. I wanted to wear something today that reflects the light and relaxed breezes. I put on this denim skirt from Abercrombie and Fitch (I know...I don't usually give into the conformity of Abercombie but I only buy when it's a necessary basic), a white halter inherited from my older sister, flats, and my floral brooch featured a few posts back. My little sister just got this dress on her own little shopping excursion and I threw my afternoon tea hat on her. I wanted everything to look simple, so I told her not to wear shoes!

P.S.
I am now a member of weardrobe. To see my profile and outfits click here. I don't have many up yet, but I'll be working on more soon!
If you have a weardrobe account too, let me know...I'd love to see your looks!

A Fall Must-Have For Legs

I'm so sorry I haven't posted for almost a week! The second week of school, believe it or not, gets more hectic with student council and dance team starting up, class elections coming soon, and a heavier load of homework. Thankfully, I'm getting a four day weekend! There are so many intriguing trends this fall that I want to try, but one on the top of my list is flashy leggings. Leggings have been a basic for years, but this fall they seem to have been kicked up a notch. Revamped with sequins, neons, leather, and wild prints, they're no longer just the piece you wear under a dress to keep warm. My current collection of leggings consists of two black pairs and one white pair...booorrrring!!! So my first stop the next time I go shopping? Here are some leggings guaranteed to take the spotlight!
