A Day in the Past

Yesterday, I spent a lovely day with my grandma, mom, and sister. We had lunch at our favorite 50s diner, then spent hours perusing an antique shop. There was so much to look at -- furniture, movie posters, collectables from every decade, costume jewelry, old appliances, even WWII military uniforms. It was as if we were in a museum, every shelf a look into the past of the seller's family history. I found a great box of vintage hats and went home with a couple that I'll be posting about soon!

What I wore: Victoria's Secret sweater dress, Abercrombie & Fitch plaid shirt, Cynthia Rowley tights, Cole Haan ankle boots, 1920s metal belt, my own handmade necklace, Victoria's Secret leather moto jacket, and Michael Kors wristlet.

I've always loved the old perfume dispenser in the bathroom at the Tilt'n Diner.
I tried on this cozy fox stole at the antiques shop. The face was a little creepy though.
The beautiful Michael Kors wallet that my amazing boyfriend got me for our anniversary!

What I Wore to New York Fashion Week

I found out that I was going to NYFW just in time for my annual birthday shopping spree, so I got everything at TJ Maxx with New York City in mind. I've been obsessing over leather and really edgy pieces and this resulted in an entirely black shopping cart. I didn't mean for everything to be black, but I figured I would fit right in!

My fashion week wardrobe consisted of two pairs of leather pants, black Cole Haan ankle boots, a studded cross tank, a draped jacket with leather sleeves, lime green Ralph Lauren pumps (that I practically stole for five dollars!), BCBG pointy toe t-strap heels, and a Cynthia Rowley LDB with leather lacing down the sides.

Gold, Leather Accessories, and Navy

Lately, I haven’t been able to keep gold out of my wardrobe! It’s what I typically wear for jewelry, whenever I find a gold piece of clothing I always seem to pick it over something else, and it’s my current nail color. For my birthday last Sunday, I went on a shopping spree at TJMaxx where I got a leather Cynthia Rowley purse (of course the hardware’s gold) and a complementing gold Michael Kors wallet. I also got a pair of Franco Sarto suede, wedge boots and Michael Kors suede, loafer flats, both of which have gold accents. Needless to say, I’m in love with gold (and leather)! This realization prompted me to do a themed photoshoot, incorporating navy pieces that I think look great with gold.

Cynthia Rowley Tights

I've been meaning to write this post for a while, I just haven't had a chance until now. You all know how much I love Gilt Groupe...take a look at my most recent purchase! These made me so happy because I wanted some unique tights and these were just what I had in mind! The best part is that I didn't spend a penny on them! I accumulated a credit for referring a member, plus they took off my shipping charge because the package had been back-ordered.

I'm pleased to say that these tights are very nice quality and are super comfy. The only bad thing I have to report is that one of the trouser socks got a snag in them the first time I wore them. It might have been because I just didn't take them off gently enough, but it's still disappointing that it didn't take much for them to rip. The tights, on the other hand, seem to be a bit more durable--not a single rip yet!
