Who Belongs To These Shoes Vol.1

I've decided to make a regular post every Sunday about one of my favorite things...shoes! In this segment, I'll be posting a pair of shoes worn by anyone from celebrities on the red-carpet and models on the runway to fashion icons and style bloggers strutting their outfits on the street. The wearer of the shoes will be revealed in the next week's post and I will feature a link to the blog of anyone who guesses correctly before then.

Now, introducing the first pair...

Chanel Spring 2010 Clogs

A couple hints about who's wearing these:
-was in a 1998 movie about the disco scene of the late 70's
-has died her hair blonde for more than one role

A more detailed look at the shoes..

So who do you think these shoes belong to?

A Cue from Chanel

Through the years, Chanel has been a huge influence on the fashion industry. You could even say that the label has formed its own dictatorship on the runway. Each season generates a new "it" Chanel item that every store can't resist to create a rendition of their own. This spring, there were many things to fall in love with-classic tweed, mushroom colored nails, the always-popular quilted purses, sky-high clogs, delicate flower motifs, jewelry tattoos, crocheted dresses, and intricately woven designs. But one understated accessory that added to this faux-peasant theme was the stockings. The sheer tights were given a unique twist with laced-up stripes going up each leg.

I found a website that sells cheaper versions of this trend in easy to wear socks and stockings. For under $10, you can add a little Chanel style without the immense Chanel cost. Aside from the affordable price, the socks are great for hot days when wearing tights could result in overheating. Leave it to Chanel to start a hosiery revolution!

Galliano Never Ceases to Impress

I know the spring runways are a little past their time now and everyone's talking about fall, but can I just say how AMAZING I thought John Gallino's Spring 2010 fashion show was?!! I watched it on my iPod while on my way to NYC last week and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. He always makes such awesome productions of his runway lines and every season uses a new way to creatively present the clothing. This time, he had the models go down a red, glowing runway lit by lasers. As they walked, they were surrounded by balloon-like bubbles. But you soon realize they aren't balloons because they hit the floor and make clouds of vapor! Of course, the clothes themselves were just as magical as the presentation. The collection was inspired by old-fashion cinema and silent-movie actresses. Layers of light-as-air chiffon were paired with lace and floaty dresses were worn with structured jackets. Every outfit had a special headpiece made to accentuate each look.

Recreating Spring RTW

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been posting very frequently...but starting next week I'm hoping I can post a lot more often! This weekend I'm going to NYC so I might not post until I get back, but I'm gonna try to at least post some pictures. I'm soo excited for this trip! My cousin is singing in a concert so my family is going to watch her. We're going to be staying in the Westin at Times Square! I've only gone to NYC once, so I'm thrilled I'll be seeing more of the city!

Anyway, there were many great trends from the spring shows this year and I thought I would do a bit of my own interpretations of the runways. I've chosen a few of my favorite designers and came up with some cheaper ways to achieve the high-fashion looks.

The Make-up Trend

Every season, Karl Lagerfeld sweeps us away with the classic looks on Chanel runways, but this multi-label designer impressed everyone with his Fendi Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear line. With pastels in every make-up color, laid-back up-do's, tulle, and embroidered granny handbags, there wasn't a bit of Karl's typical bad-girl look. So this season's new colors? Anything that matches your skin tone! Cute frocks and simple dresses in nudes and rosy pinks are the perfect attire to get the Fendi look, while adding a vintage bag and tied up platforms keep it laid-back and girly.

I absolutely love these shoes!!

Erin Fetherson Brings Back Memories

Erin Fetherson brought together a runway show that seemed to be inspired by the 1940's. It reminded me of clothes that you would find in your grandmother's attic while playing dress-up as a child. The lace gloves and tea hats are like the quintessential accessories that finished your outfit. Fetherson also incorporated some pieces that make her collection modern with a tulip-style brocade dress, a ruffled jumpsuit, and black booties. As I see the models in these old-fashioned inspired looks, I can just feel the summer breeze while sitting on my grandmother's porch, the smell fresh lilacs in a crystal vase, and the taste of tea in dainty tea cups.

My predictions: Time after time, designers are always reflecting back to the trends of yesteryear. There's something about the class and simplicity of past decades that is never out of style.

Erin Fetherson

My grandma and I would have little tea parties and I'd dress up in her clothes. I remember wearing her clip-on earrings that I loved. She's the main reason I grew up to love pearls, and to this day they're my favorite things to put on my ears!
What are some of your dress-up memories?
